It allows for thickness measurement of the base material from the surface of the coating. This is an unprecedented high-sensitivity EMAT that can detect the JIS test specimen V5 (distance 50mm, φ2 flat-bottom hole) with a signal-to-noise ratio of 6dB or higher.
